Political portrait of a young boy with dog, oil on pannel.
This painting is a comment on the political situation at the time.
The 'orange' child with orange sash and orange ribbon around his hat
is telling the patriotic dog ( the dog was a symbol for and of the patriots ) to sit up and give paw.
Holland ca. 1788.
Maria M. la Farque was the sister of P.C. la Farque en N. la Farque, this famous Dutch family of painters who lived in The Hague worked for, amongst other Royalty, Prince William V and Wilhelmina of Pruisia.
