The Arts and Crafts style stretches from 1840 with the “Gothic Reform Movement” until 1940’s and the “Cotswold School”

In certain areas it encompasses a style of decoration inspired by the Medieval Gothic Period seen in furniture designed by Bruce Talbot, George Jack and William Morris who designed for makers the likes of Gillows, Jackson and Graham, Lamb of Manchester.

However it also encompasses a concept of “Honesty” in construction and a simplicity of design but with a truth to materials. Such ideas are found in pieces made by Heal and Sons, Gordon Russell, and Robert Thompson.
